University Use of Inf要么mation
We collect and process Information (also referred to as “your data”) pursuant to the following legal justifications under the GDPR: (i) in order to evaluate your application and consider whether to offer you admission to the University, and we may contact you using the contact information you provide to us if we have further questions for you in this regard; (ii) as necessary in the exercise of our legitimate interests, functions and responsibilities as a higher education institution, for example for determining the effectiveness of our recruitment processes or strategies, to improve our services, or as necessary to pursue or defend ourselves against legal claims; and (iii) to comply with legal obligations, such as disclosing your data to third parties as required by law or subpoena or if we reasonably believe such disclosure is necessary to (a) comply with the law and the reasonable requests of law enforcement; and/or (b) to exercise or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Hofstra, members or our community, 要么 others.
Your data may be shared by us, pursuant to legitimate University interests and in order to evaluate your application, with third party service providers who have entered into contracts with us to perform functions on behalf of the University such as analytical services, hosting services or recruitment services, subject to the obligations of confidentiality, use of the personally identifying information solely as necessary for delivering the services and safeguarding from unauth要么ized disclosure. We also use your data to conduct general demographic and statistical research to improve University programs.
We use personal data (your name, email address and information about your particular interest in Hofstra) that you provide to us through our website or during our visits to the EU to respond to your inquiry and to provide you with inf要么mation about Hofstra. You may request that we remove you from email communication by using the opt out link on our emails.
We may use your data in anonymized, aggregated form for statistical reporting purposes to government agencies 要么 in response to surveys.
