Sitting in class, your son struggles to complete his  writing assignment. He is having trouble connecting his ideas. His paper looks like a mess, with cross outs and erasures. He is embarrassed, frustrated, and worried. He knows that he will have to be able to do this kind of exercise in a few years for his college entrance exams.

Your son has organized his essay and has included specific details to prove his point. In the remaining minutes before the end of class, he proofreads his work, incorporating  some challenging vocabulary he recently learned. Then he  submits the assignment, confident that he has done his best work. All of that practice at Handle Associates has really paid off!

  Reading

This is impossible! Was she serious? Your daughter asks herself how a teacher can assign so much reading homework. She is going to be up all night trying to read these two history chapters. Every other word seems foreign, and the questions at the end of the chapter are incomprehensible. It is so late that now she is  fatigued and can't concentrate.

Your daughter is organized, and rested. She finished her reading homework early and is reviewing her answers and the chapter vocabulary. She  feels very confident about the material. The chapter questions were thought-provoking and gave her an idea about a class discussion. Since improving her reading skills, she has really begun to enjoy studying history. She wonders what law school would be like.
